Larry R. Yates, 63, of Easton, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his home with his wife and children by his side. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Easton Saloon.
Larry was born on March 16, 1956 in Mt. Vernon, Washington to Kenneth & Sarah (Evans) Yates. He spent his early years growing up in Concrete, WA and Buckley, WA before his family moved to Snoqualmie in 1961. He attended North Bend Elementary and graduated from Mt. Si High School. Larry worked for the City of Bellevue for 28 years in the street department.
Larry was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. He was also a hot rod enthusiast, working on his VW Baja and he and his brother Mike founded the Snoqualmie Car Club and show before handing the event over to the Legends Casino. He was a member of the Kittitas County Snowmads and the Cabin Creek Cruisers Car Club.
Larry is survived by his wife, Hazel, at their home in Easton; daughter Nikki Shrader of Stevensville, Montana; sons Aaron J. Yates of Fall City, Washington and Steven T. Yates of Gooding, Idaho; his “adopted daughters” Bri Russel of Goldbar, Washington and Tracy Mehl of Bremerton, Washington and twelve grandchildren. His sisters Anita Finnsson of Palmer, Alaska and Chrisy Wallace of Brentwood, California also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Yates.
